SK Institute is a not for profit
corporation dedicated to raising
awareness and funds to provide
education and support to those who live with disease and funding
other support and research organizations
to prevent and cure disease.
SK Institute fulfills its mission by providing seminars
on cancer related topics and therapeutic spa services
to
cancer patients and survivors at SK
Sanctuary, LLC. a
medical day spa in La Jolla. At the seminar, a group
of thirty-five to forty cancer patients and survivors
gather at SK Sanctuary. Each of them have a story to
tell.
In December 2002, SK Institute started Men’s Cancer
Night and our goal is to continue this special night
for one evening of each month. Our dream is to hold
an array
of special evenings dedicated to Ovarian Cancer,
Melanoma, Prostate Cancer, Heart Disease and more. SK
Institute also hopes to encourage Spa Nights at other
spas around the country for cancer patients and
survivors. This encouragement has already inspired an
Oregon spa to have it’s own Breast Cancer Night. SK
Institute needs sponsors so that it can continue to
offer support to people living with diseases. Any amount
contributed would be greatly appreciated. Gifts may
be
designated specifically for Breast Cancer Spa Night,
Men’s Cancer Night or as unrestricted to be used from
the general fund to support SK Institute’s
beneficiaries. Naming opportunities are available.
The cancer survivors come to experience complimentary
therapeutic spa services and are comforted by therapists,
aestheticians
and staff. They often arrive timid and shy, wearing wigs
and protecting their feelings. Over the past year SK
Institute has also supported Y-Me, a National Breast
Cancer Organization that provides education and support
to those who have been touched by breast cancer and the
Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center an advanced cancer research
center that is dedicated to “discovering cures for
cancer in our lifetime”. SK Institute also supports the
American Melanoma Foundation with the goal of public
awareness and prevention of skin cancers and melanoma.
